Erik Aune - Chief Operating Officer

Erik Aune is the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Business Development for Oculus Research.  When Erik joined Oculus, he brought his ophthalmic knowledge, clinical and administrative experience with him. He comes from an Optometry background, where he worked in nearly all parts of the optometry business, including medical billing, collections, lens lab, contacts, patient care, sales, and management. He also received a Paraoptometric Certification (CPO) from the American Optometric Association.

At Oculus, Erik has helped to build an amazing team of professionals and has turned Oculus Research into one of the top Ophthalmic research sites in the country and a go-to site for many CROs and Sponsors. Erik has greatly improved the efficiency of Oculus' study startup practices and timelines, improved subject recruitment techniques, and has implemented successful database building initiatives. He has built a database of pre-screened potential research subjects with for a wide variety of indications. He successfully scaled Oculus Research from a single study at a time site to a multi site clinical research company capable of running 15-20 studies simultaneously, while hitting or exceeding enrollment goals and producing high quality data. 

Erik is currently expanding Oculus Research into other areas of research by bringing additional investigators and industry professionals onboard. When hiring, on-boarding, and training additional personnel, Erik relies on his clinical research experience which includes experience as a research coordinator, study startup, IP management and storage, IP dosing, patient recruitment, regulatory submissions, GCP and HIPAA training, and CPR/BLS certification.
