More About Us

Oculus Research is a patient-focused clinical research company based in Garner, North Carolina, with an additional site in Raleigh, North Carolina. Our Garner site is a dedicated research facility that has conducted over 45 clinical trials in the past five years. Both of our sites exclusively conduct ophthalmic clinical trials, phases 2-4. Our staff, which includes optometrists and ophthalmologists, has over 70 years of cumulative clinical research experience, including pharmaceutical drug development, audit experience, and investigator-initiated trials.

We are a small but growing company, which enables us to produce quality data and rapid turnaround on study start-up activities and regulatory document submissions. Our dedicated regulatory and QA personnel are one of the many things that set us apart from other research sites. Because of our size, our investigators are able to directly oversee all clinical staff and all research activities. Our quality assurance lead monitors all study activity, continually trains staff members, and ensures adherence to our SOPs. Our staff is regularly trained for FDA audits and we have passed multiple routine sponsors and CRO audits (not for cause) with flying colors.

Diverse Age-Range Patient Population

Oculus Research has a diverse research patient population, which includes all age ranges. We specialize in ophthalmic research trials, including glaucoma/ocular hypertension, adenoviral and bacterial conjunctivitis, blepharitis, keratoconjunctivitis sicca (dry eye disease), meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), neurotrophic keratitis, Sjogren’s Syndrome, allergic conjunctivitis, pediatric myopia control, presbyopia, astigmatism, mydriasis reversal, LASIK, corneal cross-linking, visual disturbances, Fuchs’ Endothelial Corneal Dystrophy, clear corneal cataract surgery, pain management after surgery, contact lens solutions, and devices, such as IOL implants, punctal plugs, and contact lenses.

Effective Trial Enrollment Strategies

We are regularly one of the top enrollers for our trials, which is mainly due to our continuously updated databases of potential and current research subjects. Our recruitment tactics vary by study but may include online and social media advertisement, radio and TV ads, in-office recruitment, direct mailers, emails, and phone calls. Our recruitment and enrollment abilities have been tested and proven time and time again. We have hit or exceeded our enrollment goal on every trial, including block enrollment trials, which generally have a significantly shorter recruitment period. We believe that our experience, quality of data, level of oversight, and recruitment abilities make us a valuable asset for any ophthalmic trial.
